For years, my customers have been asking me when Life Root would come out with a line of hand and body lotions. However, my commitment with the Life Root family was to avoid the use of any preservatives or binding agents, which are ultimately necessary to prevent the lotions from separating or spoiling. In developing the Finally Hand and Body lotions, there were two main considerations: natural product ingredients and product sensation.
Hand and body lotion formula and ingredients
In order to make a hand and body lotion, I needed to add a small amount of preservative to ensure longer shelf life, and a small amount of emulsifier and binding agents to achieve the appropriate texture and avoid separation. Ultimately, I decided to use small amounts of glyceryl monostearate (derived from palm oil and vegetable glycerin), palm stearic (derived from palm oil), xantham gum (derived from corn), and benzoin (a gentle, natural preservative). These are described in detail under ingredients.
The hand and body lotions also contain all the other types of ingredients our customers have come to expect in a Life Root product, such as organic aloe vera; olive, grape seed, wheat germ, hemp and almond oils; and organic herbs such as St. Johns Wort, calendula, lavender, chickweed, and various essential oils, to name a few.
Hand and body lotion sensation
My second consideration in developing the hand and body lotions was in coming up with a suitable formulation. Feedback from our customers was that most competitive products were either too sticky or too oily or too waxy. The Finally Hand and Body Lotions have a rich, smooth and silky feel. They use just the right combination of sterilized water, organic aloe vera, and oil blends to achieve a very unique sensation unlike most other products. The result is a long lasting lotion that will restore, moisturize and balance your skin. And while one drop does it, you won't have to worry about putting on too much!
Finally is born!
Given that the new hand and body lotions would use some ingredients not eligible for inclusion in the Life Root products, I felt that I wanted to market them under a separate brand name, to maintain the Life Root commitment. The names
